REVIVE! is the Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education (OONE) program in Virginia.

REVIVE! training is one strategy in the harm reduction toolbelt designed to overcome the negative consequences of opioid use. Harm reduction is a practice that protects both individual and community health by addressing unnecessarily dangerous, and often deadly, realities of substance use.

In this training, participants will be taught how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency by administering naloxone, or Narcan— a nasal spray proven to rapidly reverse opioid overdoses.

Lay Rescuer – A lay rescuer is someone who has received training in offering essential first aid and medical care during emergency situations. These individuals are not medical professionals, but they have been educated to identify and address medical emergencies.

This training covers understanding opioids, how opioid overdoses happen, risk factors for opioid overdoses, and how to respond to an opioid overdose emergency with the administration of Naloxone.
